Dear customer,
With this manual we want to teach you how to configure an external repository so that you can make your backups externally, either with our remote backup service or with any NAS/FTP/Server outside of Plesk that you have available.
✏️ You can configure the remote server at the domain level (one by one) or at the global level of the entire server integrating all domains at once.
✅ ✅ Ideally, if you configure the repository at the server level, do not duplicate the configuration in the individual domains as you would be duplicating the backups and duplicating the disk space needed for each backup you want to make.
Configuring the external repository individually
The first thing we have to do is to enter Plesk, locate the domain we want to configure and enter the "Backup Manager" > "Remote Storage Settings". To illustrate:
Now it will tell us that there is no remote FTP(s) configured. Therefore, we simply click on the option itself:
And now, we must enter in the form the data that ProfesionalHosting or another provider has provided us. In this case, we will simulate that we are the one providing the service. We would configure it like this:
We save it and that's it, we have already created the repository (one of many that could exist) and now we just have to schedule the backup to be done on that remote server (See the final part of the tutorial).
Configuring the external repository for the entire server
If we want to copy all domains with 1 backup, it's not much of a mystery, it's just replicating the same configuration as before, only we must go to "Tools & Settings" > "Backup Manager".
Then click on "Remote Storage Settings" and follow the steps mentioned above.
That's it, we already have the repository. Now we are going to learn how to schedule the backups to be done in that external manager.
Finally, we need to schedule the backups
Whether we have configured backups one by one or all at once at the server level, now we need to schedule the backups to be done in that repository. So, we just need to click here:
Now we will be prompted with this wizard to schedule the frequency and destination of the backups. It depends on each personal policy whether to make full backups, incremental backups, how often, etc. What interests us at this point is that we must check this option:
With this, we will make the backup be uploaded to the remote server.
Best regards,
ProfesionalHosting.
