WordPress plugins allow us to adapt our website to our needs, without programming knowledge, and allow us to delegate the maintenance and updating function to the developer.
Manual installation of a plugin in WordPress
The first thing you have to do to install a plugin is to download it from the original developer's website. If you are a Professional Hosting customer, we have a Cache plugin available for free.
Once we have downloaded the plugin to our computer, we must unzip it and check if it has any files where we can see the documentation of how to install it and if it requires any specific parameters or configuration.
The next step is to upload the files to the wp-content/plugins/ folder on your server using an ftp client. If you don't know how to do this, you can watch this video that will guide you to do it.
Now you just have to access the administration panel of your domain at www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/ and go to Plugins > activate the plugins you want.
Automatic installation of a plugin in WordPress
Just like for manual plugin installation, you must download the compressed plugin, but this time you don't need to unzip it.
From the Worpress administration panel, in the left menu go to Plugins > Upload plugins.
At the top of the window that opens, there is a button that says Upload Theme, click on it and select the compressed file with the theme.
Then just select the theme and configure it as before.
Installation of a free WordPress plugin
In addition to the default plugins, WordPress has a wide collection of plugins in its repositories, which we can install without the need to carry out the previous steps.
To install any of the plugins, you just have to search for it and choose it.
