Magento allows us to activate the HTTPS protocol easily and quickly. To enable it, it is necessary to have an SSL certificate installed on the server. If we do not have our own certificate, we can hire it from this link.

Once this certificate is installed, we just need to follow these steps:

Access the administrator panel of our Magento.

Then in the top menu we go to System → Configuration.

Once in this view, we go to the Web subheading that is within the GENERAL section and we expand the following tabs, Unsecure and Secure, if it appears as shown in the image, that is, in the Unsecure section we see the "Base URL" without https we must add it so that everything is redirected through https.

We click on the button that says "Save configuration".

As shown in this image, you can see the configuration for the proper functioning of our SSL certificate in our magento 1.X.
