A domain .es once it has expired or lapsed goes through two states before being completely released to be registered again, its duration is 5 days from the domain expiration, once completed the domain is available to be registered again.

This is applicable to domains (generic) for .es .com.es .net.es .org.es. Other domains must always be renewed before their expiration.

The three states that a domain goes through before being released are:

30 days - Grace period. (The domain can be renewed at no additional cost by professionalhosting.com)
10 days - Inactive and pending deletion (The domain cannot be renewed).

Once the 2 periods have been completed, the domain is available again to be registered. We recommend not letting the domain expire because it will become available again and your competition can register it.
