Downloading Joomla!

Joomla!, like other CMSs, can be installed manually. As with most CMSs, you must download the files from the official website. First, go to https://downloads.joomla.org/es/.
As soon as you access it, you can download the .zip file where Joomla! is located by clicking on the button that says Download Joomla! 3.8.3.

After clicking on this section, the .zip file containing our Joomla! will start downloading. When the download is complete, we must upload this file to our domain and decompress it. To do this, we first access our hosting panel and upload the .zip file to the root of our domain. Then we decompress the .zip file in the root of the domain and we have completed the first step.

Installing Joomla!

After placing the files in the root of our domain, we need to enter our domain to begin the installation. As soon as we enter, a window will appear where we will choose the configuration of our site.
First, we must Select the language. Click on the drop-down menu and select our language.

After selecting the language, the website will reload showing the language in the chosen texts. Then we will have to fill in the following data:

  • Site name: indicate the name of our site.

  • Description: put a brief description of our site.

  • Administrator email: indicate the email of the site's administrator user

  • Administrator username: indicate the username of the site's administrator

  • Administrator password: put the password that the administrator user will have

  • Confirm password: confirm the password by writing it again

  • Site offline: if we do not want our site to be visible after installation, indicate Yes. If not, leave it as No.

After filling in this data, click on one of the buttons that says Next.

In the next section, we must indicate the data of our database. We will have to create one now or use one that we already have created to install the Joomla! data. It will ask us for the following data:

  • Database type: we can choose between Mysql, Mysqli or Mysql (PDO). We can leave Mysqli by default

  • Hosting: indicate where our database server is located. If it is on the same server, indicate localhost

  • User: indicate the user with permissions on the database

  • Password: indicate the database password

  • Database: indicate the name of the database where we will install Joomla

  • Table prefix: indicate the prefix of the tables in the database. Normally we can leave it by default

  • Process for an old database: if we are installing on a database that already has data, we can either Make a backup or Delete all the data it has

After filling in all the fields, click on any button that says Next.

In the last tab, Overview, it shows us a summary of the installation. When we check that everything is correct, click on the Install button to proceed with the installation.

At the end of the installation, it will indicate a screen that Joomla! has already been installed. To complete the installation, we must delete the installation folder from the root of our domain (renaming the folder also works). After this, we have our Joomla! installed.
