Joomla! has different extensions that will allow us to adapt our website to our needs. First of all, we will briefly explain what the function of Joomla! extensions is.
Firstly, it offers us the possibility of adding/modifying new functionalities to our website.
In most cases, it has a graphical interface, with which we can configure and navigate through the options that the extension offers.
If we choose an extension that has a prestigious team behind its development, whether paid or free, we guarantee that such an extension will enjoy sustained development.
To see the extensions that we have installed in our Joomla!, we must access our control panel and once inside, we will go to Extensions.
In these windows we can see:
Modules: Extensions of our Joomla!.
Plugins: Plugins installed on our website.
Templates: Templates used on our website.
Languages: Installed languages.
Joomla! Modules
Modules are lightweight and flexible extensions used for page display. These are grouped in blocks, arranged around a Component on a page. An example would be the login module. As we install modules, options will appear in this section.
Joomla! Plugins
A plugin is a type of Joomla! extension. Plugins offer functions that are not natively supported by Joomla!. The number of plugins to install is unlimited and on the Webmaster's part, he only has to supervise that plugins that overlap functions are not installed.
Joomla! Templates
Joomla! has 2 templates installed by default, but it offers us the possibility of installing new templates to be able to adapt our website to our needs.
Among the points to highlight in this section, it is the ability to duplicate our template, edit and set as default on our website.
